Walking With Friends is a book celebrating a visual journey across the United States that showcases the beauty and versatility of the Tennessee Walking Horse. Author and photographer Maggie Moore traveled for over a year throughout 48 states to gather the stunning images found in this 200 page full-color volume.

Exploring both the splendor of the horse as well as our relationships with these magnificent animals this pictorial is a delight for all horse people, no matter their breed preference. Whether it is performing to roaring applause in the show ring or for the gentle affection of just one, this horse is loved.

“I have always shared two passions in my life: horses and photography. For some time now, I had wanted to put these passions together in book form, traveling the country taking pictures of Tennessee Walkers in the various pursuits in which they excel. Over the twenty–five years of my involvement in the breed, I have developed friendships with hundreds of horses and horse owners. The Walking Horse is more than a show horse, and I wanted to share this in a manner that could be enjoyed by horse owners and non–horse owners alike. That is why I undertook this project. What an incredible journey! I sipped mint juleps on a porch in the bayou, snuggled deep into a featherbed in the Midwest. I watched Old Faithful erupt by moonlight and saw the sun rise over the Great Smoky Mountains.

During the passage, I made new friends, both horses and their owners. Best of all I saw the friendships that these owners had developed with their horses and their horses with them. I discovered on this voyage that despite the differences of landscape and accent, saddle or discipline one thing remains constant:  their hearts are as grand as their horses.
